Technical Glitches on Income-Tax e-filing Portal:

Every year, technical glitches are reported by tax payers while filing ITR. And this year is no different. Many tax payers have taken it to social media handles to take out their rant on the I-T Department. A social media user targetted Infosys, co-founder, Narayana Murthy that he is someone who pitches for 70 hours work week but his own company’s work is so redundant regarding management of the income tax filing portal that tax payers have to face so many instances of technical glitches.

Error Messages during ITR Filing 2024

The letter states that during the process of ITR filing 2024, some taxpayers faced a display of onscreen error messages which has led to delays in successful submission of returns. This has augmented their frustration.

OTP Authentication Problem

The letter mentions that there have been instances where the One Time Password (OTP) authentication process doesn’t work properly leading to delays and frustration among tax payers. Sometimes, it shows the OTP entered is wrong or tax filer has mentioned an expired OTP number.

Limited Response Options in AIS/TIS

Its not that the institute has only made complaints in the letter. They also have a word of advice for the  I-T Department. The letter says that AIS/TIS portal gives very limited options to the tax payers to choose from in order to give response to information given in the statements. ICAI has advised the tax department to have more options available for the tax payers.
