New Delhi: It has taken Jacob Duffy only 22 months and 23 games in his T20 international career to rise to the top of the ICC rankings. The New Zealand pacer, who has established himself as one of the top performers in T20 cricket in recent times, has been rewarded for his consistency in the latest ICC rankings for bowlers in T20I cricket.
Duffy capped off a meteoric rise in international cricket by becoming the top-ranked player in the updated ICC Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings.
Duffy displaces West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein from the No.1 spot after his wicket-laden performance in New Zealand’s recent T20I series at home against Pakistan. The right-arm fast bowler bagged a whopping 13 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.38.
Duffy’s heroics helped New Zealand register an emphatic 4-1 series triumph in the five-match series. The 30-year-old pacer jumped four spots to leapfrog Hosein, Varun Chakaravarthy, Adil Rashid and Wanindu Hasaranga to take the top spot.

Duffy’s remarkable rise
Duffy is the first New Zealander to hold the No.1 bowling ranking in men’s T20I cricket since Ish Sodhi in 2018.
Duffy’s Kiwi teammate and top-order batter Tim Seifert has also reached a new career-high rating following a superb series against Pakistan.
Seifert aggregated 249 runs at an average of 62.25 in five matches, with the best score of 97* in the series finale in Wellington. The batting heroics helped the Kiwi batter claim the Player of the Series award and a gain of five places to eighth in the batting charts.
The 30-year-old explosive batter is the leading New Zealand player in T20I batting rankings, led by Australia’s Travis Head.
His teammate Finn Allen moved up a place to take the 15th spot on the latest T20I batter rankings, while Jimmy Neesham gained 14 spots to reach 30th on the list for T20I all-rounders following a magnificent five-wicket haul in the fifth and the final T20I.
