New Delhi: As Manchester United prepare to face Rangers in a pre-season friendly match at Murrafieldm, Scotland, fans will be eager to witness Jadon Sancho back in action in United colours, having last played for the club in August 2023. He has been named in the 26-man roster for the game alongside Lenny Yoro who just finalized his deal a couple of days ago.
Sancho fell out with club manager Erik ten Hag, after the former accused the Dutchman of lying regarding his fitness. After being sidelined for most of the season, the 24-year-old was sent on loan to his former club, Borussia Dortmund. Since coming to Old Trafford, Sancho has never performed consistently and is nowhere near as effective as he was in Dortmund. For Dortmund, he has 53 times from his 158 appearances across all competitions. The stats drop considerably in the Man-United setup, where he has scored only 12 times from his 82 games across all tournaments.
Sancho enjoyed a decent season with Dortmund in the last term, with the side ending up 5th in the Bundesliga and were runners-up in the UEFA Champions League. The Red Devils, on the other hand, had a disappointing season where their only success was winning the FA Cup. They crashed out of the UEFA Champions League from the group stage and finished eighth in the Premier League. This season they have started by making changes to their side to have an impact.
After returning to Manchester United’s club training, Sancho talked with Ten Hag, who said that the differences had been sorted and that it was a new chapter for them. The United coach brought him back because of his versatility, as he could play in multiple roles, though Ten Hag prefers him in the central role. With Marcus Rashford ruled out due to unspecified injury, the left side of the field opens up for the Winger. Having missed playing in the recently concluded Euros, he will hope to make the most of the game time he is given.
Sancho hasn’t started for Manchester United since last May. He will be looking to make a mark on his possible return to the starting XI. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
