India dismantle Zimbabwe bowling
Chasing a target of 153, Jaiswal and skipper Gill dominated the Zimbabwe bowling, not giving them any room for taking wickets with unbeaten knocks of 93 and 58 respectively. Jaiswal played a 53-ball knock while Gill got to his half-century knock in just 39 balls as India achieved the target in just 15.2 overs to complete a magnificent win.
Jaiswal, who remained just 7 short of a century, smashed 13 boundaries and 2 massive sixes in his deadly knock while Gill hit 6 boundaries and as many sixes to demolish the Zimbabwe bowling. The hosts had opened the account in the series on a high after beating the visitors in the first match but India bounced back to register three consecutive wins to seal the series.
Earlier India’s part-time bowlers Shivam Dube and Abhishek Sharma performed commendably in the middle overs to restrict Zimbabwe to a manageable 152 for seven after being put into bat by Gill. Raza smashed 46 off 28 balls but India’s fifth bowler Abhishek (1/20 in 3 overs) and sixth option Dube (1/11 in 2 overs) produced a decent effort to keep the proceedings under control.
Apart from these two, Khaleel Ahmed also bowled a good spell with two wickets while Washington Sundar and debutant Tushar Deshpande also scalped a wicket each. For Zimbabwe other than Raza, Madhevere and T Marumani scored 25 and 32 runs respectively to added to the total. With this victory, India have recorded most wins in T20Is in the year 2024.
