Jake Paul calls out Conor McGregor after beating Mike Tyson, ex-UFC champion responds

New Delhi: Jake Paul called out former double UFC champion Conor McGregor, throwing an MMA challenge at him for his next fight after beating the legendary Mike Tyson in a boxing bout on Saturday, November 16. YouTuber turned boxer Paul beat Tyson via unanimous decision in a controversial fight which received mixed reactions from the fans with many labelling it as ‘scripted’.

Nonetheless, the much-anticipated Netflix fight was a hit, garnering massive eyeballs from around the globe. While the popular streaming platform crashed in India and USA during the bout, some fans reportedly paid up to a whopping $2 million for the tickets to catch the action live at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas, USA.

Though Tyson lasted all eight rounds, the 58-year-old struggled to keep pace with Paul, who is 31 years younger than him. Tyson managed to land only 18 punches compared to Paul’s 78 successful strikes as the legendary boxer ended up losing the fight by unanimous decision. Soon after beating Tyson, Paul took to Twitter to call out McGregor for his next fight.

In his tweet, Paul admitted that McGregor has already informed the boxer’s team that he would be open to fighting him at 170 pounds. However, he insisted he couldn’t lose so much weight to compete with the former UFC champion. Paul challenged McGregor for an MMA-style fight with no weight class.

“Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs. That’s never happening. But let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t,” Paul wrote in a tweet on X.

Conor McGregor responds

McGregor, who is known for his savagery inside the ring and savage responses on social media, came up with an interesting response to Paul’s challenge. McGregor took a dig at Paul by sharing a picture of 82-year-old former USA Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, stating that he could potentially be Paul’s next opponent.

“Nakisi already rang me, lad, it’s this guy next for you. Good luck pal,” McGregor wrote in a now-deleted post on X.

With his response, McGregor seemingly took a jibe against Paul fighting majorly against retired or fighters who are already past their best. However, it remains to be seen if the former UFC champion will accept the challenge to enter the ring against Paul in a fight with no weight limit.
