Jannik Sinner crushes Alexander Bublik to storm into French Open semifinals

New Delhi: Jannik Sinner continues his unstoppable journey at the French Open, securing a place in the semifinals after a commanding win over Alexander Bublik. The world number one defeated Bublik with a score of 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 in just under two hours of play.

He entered the match as the favourite and lived up to the expectations of the fans. Sinner never dropped serve and defeated Bublik with authority. He will face Alexander Zverev or Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.

The top-seeded Italian started 2025 by winning the Australian Open and then reached the final at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome. Sinner remains undefeated in sets throughout this year’s French Open.

After producing a sensational performance to upset fifth seed Jack Draper in the fourth-round clash, Bublik was competing in the quarter-finals at a major for the first time. Sinner took control in the opening set with a dominant first-serve percentage (83%) and punished Bublik whenever he had to rely on a second serve.

The Kazakhstani showed a much better performance in the second set and troubled Sinner. He used the drop shot effectively to pull the world number one out of position and opened his shoulders to hit through the court. At 5–5, Bublik gave Sinner a couple of openings and the Italian took full advantage of it, breaking serve before closing out the second set with a love hold, 7–5.

Sinner started the third set by making it back-to-back breaks on Bublik’s serve, before showing a dominating performance through the rest of the set. He maintained his intensity and grabbed a third break to seal the match comfortably.
