New Delhi: The matches of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 on Saturday were close as well as fiery as Telugu Titans and UP Yoddhas managed to finish as victors at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune. UP Yoddhas prevailed over the stale Puneri Paltan by a margin of 36-33. Later in the day, Telugu Titans defeated Bengal Warriorz by 34-32 in another thrilling contest.
Mysterious raider Gagan Gowda continued his brilliance, plundering 15 raid points (10 touch and five bonus) to power the Yoddhas ahead of the home side. Bhavani Rajput contributed with six raid points while stylish defender Sumit Sangwan was at his absolute best, picking up three tackle points. Pankaj Mohite’s tremendous raid efforts (11 points) and Mohit Goyat’s all-round brilliance (4 raid and 3 tackle points) didn’t bring fruitful result for the Pune outfit.
Vijay Malik (11) and Ashish Narwal (9) were brilliant in the attack for Telugu Titans as the pair ensured to maximise scoring opportunities from their combined raids of 30. Ankit and Shankar Godai were watchful in the defence, picking up three and two tackle points, respectively. Maninder Singh was once again heavy on the opposition, accumulating 14 raid points and Manjeet was composed in both departments with five tackle points and two raid points, but the duo couldn’t help Bengal Warriorz finish as the victorious team in the end.

Telugu Titans stand-in captain Vijay Malik moved to the fourth spot after claiming 11 raid points against Bengal Warriorz in the latest action of PKL. The 27-year-old has now accumulated 138 points from 17 matches this season. Devank of Patna Pirates leads the top position with 207 raid points in 16 matches followed by Dabang Delhi’s Ashu Malik (174) and Jaipur Pink Panthers’ Arjun Deshwal (163).
