New Delhi: Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be looking to continue his stellar run when India lock horns with Australia in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) which gets underway on Thursday, December 26. Bumrah has arguably been India’s best bowler in the blockbuster Test series so far and is the leading wicket-taker with 21 wickets from three matches.
Bumrah has already broken a few records with two brilliant fifers in the first three Tests and will be eyeing another huge milestone in the Boxing Day fixture at the iconic MCG. He is only six wickets away from completing 200 wickets in Test cricket and will become the fastest Indian pacer to achieve the remarkable feat.
Bumrah will surpass Kapil, who completed 200 Test wickets in 50 Test matches and currently holds the record for being the fastest Indian fast bowler to achieve the elusive feat. Bumrah currently has 194 wickets to his name in 43 Test matches at an excellent average of 19.52, including 12 fifers. If he manages to get six wickets in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, Bumrah will become the first Indian pacer to complete 200 Test wickets in less than 50 matches.

Jasprit Bumrah breathing fire in Australia
Bumrah has been in exceptional form and breathing fire with the ball in the ongoing Test series against Australia. He made an emphatic start to the series by leading India to a thumping 295-run victory in the first Test against the hosts in Perth in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Bumrah picked up 8 wickets in the Test match and played a key role in India’s victory.
He followed it up with another remarkable display in the 2nd Test in Adelaide with a 4-wicket haul in the hosts’ first innings. However, Bumrah was the lone warrior with the ball for India as the visitors suffered a crushing 10-wicket defeat in the Test match. In the rain-affected third Test at the Gabba, Bumrah finished with 9 wickets in the two innings combined to lead the wicket-taking charts in the series.
The Indian pacer will be hoping to contine his remarkable run in the all-important Boxing Day Test at the MCG with the Test series on the line. India will be desperately looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Test match as a loss might all but end their chances of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final.
Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be eyeing a huge milestone in the upcoming Boxing Day Test match against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He needs six wickets to break Kapil Dev’s all-time record. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
