New Delhi: India pacer Jaydev Unadkat will play in English County cricket for Sussex to be in considered for selection for the Bangladesh series after he was not included in the Duleep Trophy.
The left arm pacer wasn’t picked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in the pool of players for four teams, forcing him to join Sussex for the upcoming season of English county cricket.
Unadkat is set to play in five games the County Championship season, making it the second time he will play for Sussex. Unadkat will have out of favour Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara for company at the English domestic championship.
“I’m really happy to be back here. Hove is my second home. The team’s been doing fantastic this season and, hopefully, in the second leg of the season, we’re going to pull it through and get back in division one, where we belong! Cheers,” Unadkat said in a video that was posted by Sussex on their social media accounts.
Top form last season
Last season, Unadkat claimed 11 wickets in four matches at the County Championship, helping Sussex finish third in the second division standings.

Unadkat returned to the Indian Test steam after a 12-year-gap in 2022, playing in Dhaka against Bangladesh, after making his debut in 2010 against South Africa in Centurion.
