Joe Biden Reacts to Tensions in Middle East, Hopes Iran Will Back Down
On being asked about the developments in the Middle East as Iran-backed Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel following the killing of Hamas Chief Israel Haniyeh, Joe Biden said that he hopes Iran will back down but he isn’t sure.
In his words, “I hope so. I don’t know.”
Hezbollah Owns Attack on Israel
A major reason that has triggered a possibility of war in the Middle East is the firing of rockets on Israel by Hezbollah as a retaliatory attack for the assassination of Haniyeh.
Owning to the attack, Hezbollah released a statement saying, “In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their valiant and honourable resistance, and in response to the Israeli enemy’s attacks on the steadfast southern villages and safe homes, especially the attacks that targeted the villages of Kafr Kila and Deir Siryan and injured civilians, the Islamic Resistance included the new settlement of Beit Hillel in its fire schedule and bombarded it for the first time with dozens of Katyusha rockets.”
Israel has not yet reacted to the incident.
This attack comes after the killing of a top Hezbollah leader in Beirut and Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran hours after he attended the swearing-in ceremony of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
