New Delhi: Star England pacer Jofra Archer was back in his usual form on Saturday during the IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings. Archer got into the groove as he clean bowled Priyansh Arya on the first ball of the PBKS innings and then on the last ball of the first over, got rid of skipper Shreyas Iyer in a similar fashion.
While Arya failed to open his account, Iyer scored just 10 runs in chase of 206 runs set by the Royals. After the first wicket of the day, Archer completed his 50 wickets in the cash-rich league for Rajasthan. The seamer also joined legendary bowler Shane Warne in an elusive list of bowlers from the Royals team. Archer became the fifth bowler to claim 50 wickets in IPL for the Royals in his 39th match. Warne was the first bowler to take 50 IPL wickets for the franchise.
Most wickets for RR
The record of taking most wickets in the IPL for RR is held by Yuzvendra Chahal, who is 46 matches has claimed 66 wickets. The next on the list is Siddharth Trivedi with 65 wickets while Shane Watson and Warne are placed third and fourth with 61 wickets and 57 wickets respectively. Warne had led the Royals to their maiden and only title in 2008, which was the inaugural year of IPL. Archer is the second Englishman to claim 50-plus IPL wickets after Sam Curran, who has taken 58 scalps.
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag and skipper Sanju Samson shined with the bat as the Royals scored a competitive total against Punjab batting first. Jaiswal scored 67 while Parga played an unbeaten knock of 43 runs. Samson added 38 runs to the total. For Punjab, Lockie Ferguson claimed two wickets while Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen claimed a wicket apiece.
