New Delhi: With just one game remaining on matchday 24, the game week has produced outstanding results. The weekend had started with Nottingham Forest winning 7-0 against Brighton and Hove Albion, after suffering a 5-0 setback at the hands of Bournemouth the week before. Everton have been on a fantastic roll under David Moyes and managed a 4-0 win against Leicester City.
Liverpool took a 2-0 win against Bournemouth to maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table. The lowest-placed side Ipswich Town and Southampton came face to face where the Saints managed to win their first away game of the season in the top-flight. Wolverhampton Wanderers managed to win against Aston Villa to pull themselves away from the relegation zone.
Sunday started with Manchester United losing to Crystal Palace 2-0 in their own backyard and falling back to the 13th place in the table, with Palace taking the 12th place in the table. The Eagles have been making up for the slow start to their campaign and have now collected 29 points, which includes seven wins and nine draws.
At the same timeframe, Tottenham took a 2-0 win against Brentford, rising to the 14th place in the table. The Lilywhites were coming into the weekend on the back of four consecutive losses and were at risk of being pushed into the relegation zone but have now managed to put a ten-point gap from the 18th spot.
The highly anticipated Arsenal taking on Manchester City did not disappoint as the two sides locked horns at the Emirates Stadium. The hosts managed a 5-1 win over the reigning champions maintaining their second place at the table. City’s poor defence has been a concern for a while and despite scoring a comeback in the second half, they were just unable to match up with the Gunners.
