Mumbai: On August 26, 2024, the festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with fervour and devotion at the Swaminarayan Akshardham, New Delhi. The event was graced by the presence of the spiritual head of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, HH Mahant Swami Maharaj, and featured a variety of devotional and cultural programs. A large number of devotees attended this auspicious occasion.
The celebration began with the singing of devotional songs in praise of Bhagavan Shri Krishna. Following this, the children and youth volunteers of BAPS performed skits depicting various significant events from the life of Bhagavan Shri Krishna. The Sadhus of BAPS then delivered enlightening discourses, elaborating on the essence of each event. The atmosphere in the assembly was charged with enthusiasm, serenity, and a deep sense of devotion as the children volunteers presented a cultural dance celebrating the birth and life of Bhagavan Shri Krishna.

HH Mahant Swami Maharaj performed the Aarti of Akshar Purushottam Maharaj and Bhagavan Shri Krishna. A traditional swing with the childhood murti of Bhagavan Shri Krishna was placed in the assembly. HH Mahant Swami Maharaj adorned and worshipped the murti, symbolising the joy of the occasion.
HH Mahant Swami Maharaj then addressed the assembly, sharing his blessings and wisdom: “Today is the birthday of Bhagavan Shri Krishna. He is the carrier of Dharma and culture. Bhagavan Swaminarayan mentioned the virtues of Lord Shri Krishna in the Vachanamrut scripture and inspired everyone. Bhagavan Shri Krishna taught us humility throughout his life. In the Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavan Shri Krishna says that “he incarnates in every age”. Bhagavan and Satpurush are ever present on this Earth.”
The program concluded with HH Mahant Swami Maharaj performing the Aarti of Akshar Purushottam Maharaj and Bhagavan Shri Krishna.
