New Delhi: Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham has taken a cheeky dig over Ballon d’Or for ignoring his teammate Rodrygo Goes while praising him. This came after Real Madrid defeated VfB Stuttgart with a scoreline of 3-1, with Rodrygo arguably one of the best talents on the pitch.
The Brazillian striker was exciting to watch out on the night as he consistently created problems for Stuttgart running down the flank. The 23-year-old completed impressive five dribbles, won four duels and capped his performance with an assist to Kylian Mbappe who opened the scoring line for the hosts.
Despite being part of the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League-winning Real Madrid squad last season, Rodrygo was not nominated for the Ballon d’Or, whereas seven other Madrid stars made the top 30 list. Vinícius Jr., Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, Toni Kroos, Dani Carvajal, Federico Valverde, and Antonio Rüdiger were all included.
With the signing of Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid’s attacking trident is now being recognised by the initials “BMV,” much like Barcelona’s famous “MSN” trio from 2014 to 2017. The “BMV” stands for Bellingham, Mbappé, and Vinícius, leaving Rodrygo somewhat overlooked despite his consistent performances in attack.
Rodrygo, earlier this month, expressed his disappointment, saying he was upset about the exclusion and felt he deserved to be nominated. After the Stuttgart match, he took a few memorable moments from the game to Instagram to share. One image in particular caught the attention of fans and teammates alike.
The image showed the Brazilian striker embracing three key players – Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior. Rodrygo captioned the post with a message highlighting the excitement of playing at the Santiago Bernabeu, stating, “Champions League at the Bernabéu, it’s always the feeling of the first time… Great night for our team!”

The post sparked a wave of reactions, but Jude Bellingham’s comment stole the spotlight as he responded with a strong message giving reminder to everyone of Rodrygo’s importance in the squad acknowledging the 23-year-old’s significant contribution in the squad.
Bellingham response not only highlighted Rodrygo’s role in the team but also put a strong question mark on Ballon d’Or selection committee as the Brazilian also broke Ronaldhino’s all time Champions League assists record with 12 assists.
Real Madrid will be back in action as they return to La Liga this weekend against Espanyol and Rodrygo will be eager to make another impact.
