New Delhi: South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada has been banned from cricket after testing positive for a banned recreational drug. The Proteas pacer revealed on Saturday that he is currently serving a provisional suspension which led to his exit mid-way into the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League while representing the Gujarat Titans.
The 29-year-old, who is considered to be one of the best fast bowlers, released a statement clarifying why he had exited the IPL, midway into the Titans’ campaign.
‘As has been reported, I recently returned to South Africa from participating in the IPL for personal reasons. This was due to my returning an adverse analytical finding for the use of a recreational drug,’ he shared.
‘I am deeply sorry to all that I have let down. I will never take the privilege of playing cricket for granted. It goes beyond my personal aspirations,’ he said in his statement.
