Kaka to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti? Ballon d’Or winner ‘ready’ to join Brazil’s coaching staff

New Delhi: Brazil legend Ricardo Kaka has expressed his desire to join Carlo Ancelotti’s backroom staff for the national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Kaka, who is regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation, addressed reports of being in talks to join the Brazil coaching staff and said he feels ‘ready and prepared’ to take up a coaching role in his career.

Kaka, a World Cup winner with Brazil, won the Ballon d’Or in 2007 after reaching the peak of his career under Ancelotti at AC Milan. The duo won multiple trophies together at AC Milan, including the Champions League in 2007. Kaka later reunited with Ancelotti at Real Madrid, where he won the La Liga in 2012.

Kaka made 92 appearances for Brazil and was part of the Selecao squad that lifted their last World Cup title in 2002. Post retirement from professional football in 2017, Kaka has taken coaching courses and has studied sports business at the prestigious Harvard University to build his coaching experience. He is eager to return to the Brazil national team to help the team realise their World Cup dream next year.

“If the national team believes I can help in any way, I think right now I’m ready and prepared,” Kaka told Cazé TV in an interview.

“I stopped playing in 2017. Since then, I have wanted to prepare myself. I took sports business courses at Harvard in the United States, I took a coaching course at the CBF. I also have extensive experience with the national team—three World Cups and over 15 years serving Brazil. If the opportunity arises, I feel ready to return and serve the national team,” he added.

Carlo Ancelotti to begin Brazil job on May 26

Ancelotti, who is one of the best managers of all time, will take over as the new head coach of the Brazil national team on May 26, after taking charge of Real Madrid in their final La Liga game of the season against Real Sociedad on May 24. The Brazilian Football Confederation has already confirmed Ancelotti’s appointment as the new head coach of the national team.

Ancelotti, who joined Real Madrid from Everton in 2021, won two Champions League and two La Liga titles with the club in his second spell. Ancelotti guided Real Madrid to a La Liga and Champions League double last season. However, Real failed to replicate their heroics this season as they are set to go trophyless after crashing out of the Champions League and losing the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

Real Madrid also lost the La Liga title to arch-rivals Barcelona after a close fight. Nonetheless, Ancelotti will draw curtains on a successful spell at Real Madrid, winning a total of 11 trophies in his second stint with the club. The legendary Italian manager will take charge of the Brazil national team ahead of their World Cup qualifiers in June.
