Thiruvananthapuram : To Spearhead the promotional campaigns of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL), Malayalam superstar Superstar Mohanlal has signed up as the brand ambassador of the inaugural edition of the league which is a franchise-based professional T20 cricket tournament organised by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA).
Mohanlal will be part of all the campaigns for the league which is scheduled to take place at the Sports Hub in Kariavattom from September 2 to 19.

The league will definitely enable them to maximise their potential and offer diverse career opportunities. It will also mark a new chapter for Kerala cricket,” Mohanlal said.
A total of six teams will compete in the state premier league which will be held under the rules and regulations of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC). The event will begin as soon as the Twenty20 cricket league in the neighbouring Karnataka concludes.
Modelled on the Indian Premier League (IPL), the KCL will feature six teams. The last date for the submission of franchise applications (expression of interest) is July 15.
The inaugural player auction of the KCL will be held in August. The tournament will be telecast live on Star Sports 1 channel and digital streaming application Fancode. The KCL will have a total prize money of Rs 60 lakh.
The proposed state league will be held over a period of 19 days, including two reserve days, in which six teams will play a total of 33 matches.
The matches are planned to be held at The Sports Hub at Kariavattom green field stadium in the capital city of Kerala which has hosted many international cricket matches
