New Delhi: Team India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant enjoyed some fun banter with his India teammate Kuldeep Yadav during the clash between India A and India B in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024-25 on Sunday, September 08. Pant poked fun at Kuldeep when the left-arm spinner was batting for his team India A during their run-chase on Day 4 of the contest between the two sides at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Shubman Gill-led India A lost to Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India B by 76 runs after failing to chase down the target of 275 runs in their second innings. Kuldeep, who came out to bat at no.8 for India A, was trying to build a partnership with Akash Deep in the middle when India B keeper Pant decided to have some banter with the left-arm spinner.
The incident happened during the 41st over of India A’s second innings when they were reeling at 147/7. With Kuldeep on the striker’s end, Pant was heard telling his fielders to stay up to stop the spinner from stealing a single. “Sab upar rehna single ke liye saare (Everyone stay up for the single),” Pant shouted to his teammates. “Main nahi lunga (I will not take a single),” Kuldeep was quick to respond.
Pant hilariously asked the spinner to swear on his mother that he will not take a single. “Kha le maa kasam nahi legal. Maa kasam kha (Swear on your mother that you will not take a single),” Pant told Kuldeep. The fun banter between the duo was caught on the stump mic and went viral on social media.

There was another instance during the India A run-chase when Pant was seen teasing Kuldeep as the wicket-keeper batter asked the spinner to get out quickly. “Khatarnak plan banaya hai iske liye (Have made a strong plan against him),” Pant was heard telling Kuldeep before asking him to get out.

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s India B get off to winning start
Easwaran’s India B got off to a winning start in the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 with a comprehensive 76-run victory against India A. Batting first in the game, India B rode on a terrific knock of 181 runs from young Musheer Khan to post a strong total of 321 runs on the board before the pacers helped them bundle out India B for 231 runs in their first innings.
Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar picked up three wickets apiece to run through the India A batting line-up, helping India B amass a healthy lead of 90 runs. Pant’s 61 and Sarfaraz Khan’s 46 helped India B post 184 runs on the board in their second innings to set up a tricky target of 275 runs for India in their second innings.
However, Gill & Co. failed to live up to the expectations once again as they faltered in the run-chase. After a failure from the top and the middle order, tail-ender Akash Deep played a valiant cameo of 43 runs off 42 balls towards the end but it was not enough as India B were bowled out for 198 runs to suffer a heavy defeat.
