New Delhi: The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kickstart on March 22 with the first match between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Eden Gardens in Kolkata is slated to host the opener for the the 18th edition of the cash-rich league.

As per a report on Cricbuzz, the second match will be held in Hyderabad with runners-up from the last season Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) getting an opportunity to kick off their campaign at home. SRH will be up against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal a day later on March 23. The Royals will play Knight Riders on March 26 and will be up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 30th.

IPL final on May 26 in Kolkata

Apart from the tournament opener and other matches, the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will also host the final of IPL 2025 on May 25 along with Qualifier 2. The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be held in Hyderabad as per the report. Apart from the 10 regular centres – Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mullanpur, Delhi and Jaipur besides Kolkata and Hyderabad, the matches in this season will also be played in Guwahati and Dharamsala and the latter is expected to get at least three matches this season.

Earlier, after the completion of the January 12 Special General Meeting (SGM) in Mumbai, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla had said that the cash-rich league will begin on March 23 but it seems that the BCCI has revised the schedule along with the start date. The full schedule for the event is expected in couple of days.
