New Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) star KL Rahul is reportedly set to be considered for selection in India’s T20I squad for their upcoming series against Bangladesh at home. Rahul has turned heads with his impressive show with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and has rekindled hopes of a T20I comeback for India.

Continuing his purple patch, Rahul slammed a brilliant knock of unbeaten 112 runs off 65 balls in DC’s clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their final home game of the season on Sunday. However, his century went in vain as DC failed to defend the target of 200 runs to suffer a heavy 10-wicket defeat after Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan produced a chasing masterclass to take GT home.

Nonetheless, Rahul has enjoyed a prolific season for Delhi Capitals in his debut season for the franchise. The elegant right-hander has amassed 493 runs in 11 matches at a healthy strike rate of 148.04, including three fifties and a solitary ton. He is the leading run-getter for DC in the IPL 2025 and has reportedly done enough to pave the way for his comeback in the Indian T20I squad.

As per a report in the Times of India, Rahul is set to be considered for selection in India’s T20I squad for the Bangladesh series. India will host Bangladesh in three ODIs and as many T20Is at home in August this year.

KL Rahul last played a T20I for India in 2022

Rahul last featured in a T20I match for India in the T20 World Cup 2022 clash against England in November 2022. He scored only 5 runs off as many ball while opening the innings with Rohit Sharma in the game before being dropped from the T20I squad, owing to his lean run in the shortest format. It has been over 2.5 years since Rahul played a T20I match for India.

However, Rahul might finally get a shot at redemption in T20Is against Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup next year. Currently, Sanju Samson is India’s first-choice wicket-keeper batter in T20Is, as he has done exceptionally well as an opener. Rishabh Pant has also been in the fray, however, it’s Rahul’s versatility that sets him apart and might earn him a comeback in the T20I setup.
