New Delhi: La Liga and the clubs in the Spanish league will help raise funds for the Red Cross in order to help those affected by flash flood in Spain which have already claimed 158 lives. They will be publicising a campaign during the games broadcasts this weekend and via their social media handles as well.
In a statement on Thursday, La Liga said that they are in “solidarity with the families of the victims and those missing.” Real Madrid have already announced that they have joined forces with the Red Cross and are donating €1 million. The Spanish football giants have also announced that they are launching a fundraising campaign in support of those affected by the crisis.

The club has also donated €1 million to the victims, who are in critical condition. The Spanish FA has already postponed seven midweek Cup ties and all the games scheduled for Valencia’s eastern region in the upcoming weekend. They have also asked the competition organisers to observe a one-minute silence before the start of the matches as a tribute to the victims.
So far, six Copa del Rey games have been rescheduled for next week, with Real Sociedad’s game against Jove Espanyol in Alicante as the only match with an undecided new fixture date. La Liga have asked the ten affected clubs in two of the top divisions of Spanish football to submit a proposal for new dates by next Tuesday.
Saturday’s La Liga match between hosts Valencia and Real Madrid, as well as Villarreal’s game against Rayo Vallencano, are the games that are postponed. Valencia have made their Mestalla stadium available as the point for donations of food and essential items.
