New Delhi: Star Indian shuttler Lakshay Sen produced nerves of steels on Friday etching his name in the history books with a miraculous win in the men’s singles quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics 2024. Lakshya beat Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen 19-21, 21-15, 21-12 to become the first Indian male badminton player to have ever reached semifinals at the Olympics.
After going down narrowly in the first set against Tien Chen, Lakshay made a remarkable comeback beating his opponent in the second and third set with a good margin and marched his way into the semifinals of the event.
Sen, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, will face the winner of the match between 2021 World Champion Loh kean Yew of Singapore and Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the last four.
