New Delhi: Germany’s Florian Writz is set to become a Liverpool player after a deal has been agreed with Bayer Leverkusen. Despite interest from other clubs, the Reds won the race after accepting a huge asking price for Germany’s rising talent.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and Leverkusen have verbally agreed on a deal in principle for a package reaching €150 million after two failed offers. Leverkusen rejected the first bid for the German star, but Liverpool increased their second offer worth a total of £113m.
That bid was rejected again as it fell below the German club’s asking price of £126m (€150m). However, both clubs have now verbally agreed deal in principle. This is set to be a record-breaking deal for the current Premier League champions, surpassing the amount they paid to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica and becomes the most expensive signing in British football.
