Liverpool’s Alisson Becker set for comeback against Wolverhampton Wanderers

New Delhi: Liverpool’s manager Arne Slot has expressed optimism about goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s fitness and return to the side. The Brazilian goalkeeper returned to training with his side after missing two games. Slot feels he will be back for the Reds’ game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool will travel to Molineux Stadium for their upcoming Premier League game, where they will want to decide on their no.1, who sustained a hamstring injury. Slot, in the pre-match press conference, said that the team was hopeful of the shot-stopper’s return. The 46-year-old confirmed that Becker had taken part in Thursday’s practice session and was expected to train fully with the team on Friday.

In his absence, Caoimhin Kelleher did brilliantly, conceding only once in the two games. Liverpool won games against Bournemouth in the Premier League and West Ham in the EFL with big margins. Kelleher was rumoured to be moving out of the side in the summer, looking for minutes in the first team.

Kelleher is now likely to return to the bench, though his Dutch boss applauded the efforts that the 25-year-old had put in the games. Slot mentioned that the team had enough options in some positions.  For now, Alot has to deal with speculations regarding three of his best players in the squad, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as they head to the final year of their contracts with the club.

Liverpool have enjoyed a good season so far, winning four of their five Premier League games and their opening game in the Champions League against AC Milan. Currently, they are placed second to Manchester City in the Premier League points table, having collected 12 points and are separated from the top spot by just one point.

After missing out on two massive wins for Liverpool, the Brazilian goalkeeper eyes a comeback in the weekend match.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
