New Delhi: Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain and six-time Asian champion Shiva Thapa win their respective bouts in boxing at the 38th National Games on Thursday in Dehradun. Assam’s Shiva Thapa defeated Maharashtra’s Harivansh Tiwari in the men’s light welterweight (63.5kg) division while in the women’s middleweight (75kg) division, Assam’s Lovlina outclassed Nagaland’s Renu with all her experience.
Chandigarh’s Anshul Punia beat Manipur’s Changlemba Singh in the men’s flyweight (51kg) division. SSCB’s Mandengbam Jadumani registered a dominating win over Haryana’s Vikash in another bout in the same weight class. Himachal Pradesh’s Ashish Kumar overpower Madhya Pradesh’s Himanshu Srivas in the featherweight (57kg) category. SSCB’s Vanshaj showed remarkable strength and composure to beat Delhi’s Shashank Pradhan.
Assam’s Abhinav Saikia registered a victory over Delhi’s Gagan in the light middleweight (71kg) bout while SSCB’s Hitesh Gulia showed his dominance by securing a brilliant win against Haryana’s Sahil Chauhan in another bout of the same category. SSCB’s Lakshya Chahar displayed his raw power to beat Chandigarh’s Nitish Kumar with a sensational performance in the light heavyweight (80kg) division.
Uttarakhand’s Himanshu Solanki also delivered an impressive performance and outpunched Rajasthan’s Puspendra Singh in another intense bout. Madhya Pradesh’s Paras delivered a dominating performance to beat Delhi’s Sohit Drall, while Uttarakhand’s Kapil Pokharia showcased his great control to beat Himachal Pradesh’s Chetan Choudhary in the heavyweight (92kg) category.
Uttarakhand’s Narendra delivered a great performance to Delhi’s Vishal Kumar in the super heavyweight (+92kg) division and Rajasthan’s Tarun Sharma overpowered Telangana’s Abdullah Jawveed Jabri.

Haryana’s Kalpana delivered an impressive performance to register a victory over Madhya Pradesh’s Malika Mor in the women’s flyweight (50kg) division and in another bout Uttarakhand’s Nivedita Karki defeated Chandigarh’s Ritika with a stunning performance. Uttar Pradesh’s Soniya overpowered Gujarat’s Hetal Dama in the bantamweight (54kg) category.
Madhya Pradesh’s Divya Pawar registered a convincing win against Assam’s Aikon Mili in the same weight class. Himachal Pradesh’s Vinakshi Dhota secured a commanding victory over Manipur’s Sovi Jajo in the featherweight (57kg) division. SSCB’s Jasmine outpunched Himachal Pradesh’s Menka Devi in the lightweight (60kg) category and in another bout, Haryana’s Manisha outclassed Punjab’s Simranjit Kaur Baath to add another gold to her state’s tally.
Assam’s Ankushita Boro showed control and grit to beat Nagaland’s Sanju in the welterweight category and Chandigarh’s Pranshu Rathore defeated Himachal Pradesh’s Ekta in another middleweight match.
