New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor Zaheer Khan has slammed the pitch curator at the Ekana stadium in Lucknow after team’s 8-wicket loss against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Tuesday. Two losses in three matches hit Zaheer very hard which forced him to say that it looked loke the PBKS’ curator came out here to curate the pitch.
Chasing a target of 172 on a pitch that offered some bounce and grip, PBKS produced sensational performance riding on Prabhsimran Singh’s remarkable half-century to beat the home side in just 16.2 overs. At the post-match press conference, Zaheer said that he was a bit disappointed considering it was a home game and especially after seeing how sides take an extra advantage while playing at home.
It was Punjab curator out here: Zaheer
‘So yeah, from that point of view, you’ve seen the curator is not really thinking that it’s a home game. You know, I think maybe it looked like, you know, it was Punjab curator out here.”
The former India pacer further said that a loss like this deprives the home team fans of watching their side dominate the proceedings. ‘So, that’s (pitch) something which we’ll figure out. It’s a new setup also for me here. But I hope that this is the first and the last game when it comes to that, because you are disappointing the Lucknow fans as well.’
Zaheer finally said that the team will focus on the positives and there is some work to be done which will happen in due course of time. Super Giants began their campaign on a disappointing note after a 1-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals and then bounced back against Sunrisers Hyderabad winning the encounter by 5 wickets. In three matches, Lucknow have suffered two losses and they will be aiming for a win in their next game against Mumbai Indians.
