Notices to Ponguleti Harsha Reddy:
Chennai Customs had issued notices to Harsha Reddy for his involvement in smuggling of high end luxury watches worth Rs 1.7 crore. The watches – Patek Philipe 5740 and Breguet 2759 – were seized from an Indian national on his return from Singapore on Feb 5.
Investigation into the case indicated that he bought these watches from a Hong Kong-based Indian luxury watch dealer Muhammed Faherdeen Mubeen through an intermediary Alokam Naveen Kumar, who said that the transaction took place via crypto currency and hawala money.
Customs officials had asked him to appear on April 4 but he requested deferment as he was down with dengue. He later stated that he would attend questioning on April 27 on medical advice.
Harsha Reddy, who is also the director of Raghava Projects, had denied allegations.
