Telangana: ED raids residences of BRS MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy, brother Madhusudan Reddy

Hyderabad: Enforcement Directorate carried out searches at residences of Patancheru BRS MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy and his brother Gudem Madhusudan Reddy on Thursday, June 20, in connection to their mining business, Tv9 telugu reported.

Raids are being conducted at 3 locations, MLA Mahipal Reddy’s residence in Patancheru, his son-in-law’s house in Nizampet and brother Madhusudan Reddy’s house were searched simultaneously. The searches also took place at a quarry company, which belongs to Madhusudan Reddy.

The raids come after an FIR was filed by Advocate V Ravikrishna alleging Rs 300 crore illegal mining scam in Lakdaram village, Patancheru mandal, Sangareddy district. He also named Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao and Dubbaka MLA K Prabhakar Reddy.

Mining Scam: 

The MLA and his brother are facing allegations that they are carrying out illegal mining and crusher business in Survey No. 738 of Lakdaram village. There are also accusations of 36 mining and crusher companies operating in Patancheru constituency, violating environmental laws and rights of the villagers.

A complaint was filed with the Tehsildar of Patnacheru mandal in February and an SIT was constituted to probe the matter.

Madhusudan Reddy was recently arrested for illegal mining by his companies. After a Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) filed a complaint for excessive and illegal mining, he was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
