‘Mai recover kar ke aaya hu’: Yash Dhull opens up on return to cricket after heart surgery – WATCH

New Delhi: Yash Dhull made his comeback to cricket in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 after undergoing heart surgery. It has been a difficult last few months for the former India U-19 captain who was diagnosed with a hole in his heart during a camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru earlier this year

Dhull was diagnosed after the NCA medical staff spotted some irregularities in the player’s health during a routine check-up. He was later advised surgery for the hole in heart. The 21-year-old returned to action in the Delhi Premier League after a successful surgery and was named captain of the Central Delhi Kings franchise.

Dhull has struggled to find his form in the inaugural edition of the DPL and has been far from his best after returning from surgery. In the five innings that he has played in the tournament so far, the highly-rated young batter has managed only 93 runs at an underwhelming average of less than 20 and a poor strike rate of 113.41.

To return to the top of his game, Dhull also stepped down from captaincy and handed over the reins to Jonty Sandhu while also playing as an impact sub himself. He also changed his batting order but didn’t find much success. Nonetheless, the youngster is determined to succeed as he opened up on his return to the game after his heart surgery.

“Ups and downs aate hai, uske liye kaise cheezein thik karni hai kaise apne aap ko mentally prepare karna hai wo bohot important hai mere liye. Kuch cheezein past mai hui hai (heart surgery) toh uske baad recover karke aaya hu toh thoda time lag raha hai but mai positive hu aur apne game ke liye 100% duga (Ups and downs are part of life. How to mentally prepare for such challenges is very important for me. Certain things have happened in the past, and I have returned after a recovery. It’s taking time but I am positive and will give 100% for my game),” Dhull told IANS.

Indian cricketer Yash Dhull says, “Scouts are here watching the match, and the state team is open to all. Perform well, and you might make it to the team. DPL is a great platform for youngsters. Yash Dhull aims to get back among the runs

Dhull’s talent is no secret and the youngster is regarded as one of the most promising young batters in the domestic circuit. The 21-year-old has found it difficult to attain consistency upon his return to the game from surgery and will be hoping to get back among the runs in the Delhi Premier League.

DPL 2024 is also a chance for Dhull to grab the attention of the IPL franchises ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction in case he is released by Delhi Capitals.

Yash Dhull spoke about returning to cricket after undergoing a heart surgery recently. The former India U-19 captain was diagnosed with a hole in his heart.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
