Leeds’ 29 league victories are also a new club record, but Parker’s side could not quite match Vincent Kompany’s Burnley tea,m who amassed 101 points when they were promoted in 2022-23.
Why Leeds won the championship over Burnley
Leagues around the world usually decide titles based on two main criteria — goal difference or head-to-head record. While leagues like the ISL and La Liga use the head-to-head rule, competitions such as the Premier League and the Championship are settled on goal difference. Leeds United finished the season with a superior goal difference of +65 compared to Burnley’s +53, which ultimately handed them the Championship title.
