Manu Bhaker gives befitting response after being trolled for ‘showing off’ her medals

New Delhi: Paris Olympics double medallist Manu Bhaker recently hit back at trolls with a befitting response on social media after being continuously targeted for ‘showing off’ her medals at promotional events. Bhaker created history at the Paris Olympics by winning a bronze medal apiece in the women’s 10m air pistol event and the 10m mixed team air pistol event.

The shooter became the first athlete post-Independence to win two Olympic medals for India at the same edition of the Games. However, despite her historic feat Bhaker was criticised by many for flaunting her two Olympic bronze medals at promotional events back home. The 22-year-old took to X to slam the trolls with a scathing post.

“The two bronze medals I won at the Paris 2024 Olympics belong to India. Whenever I am invited for any event and asked to show these medals, I do it with pride. This is my way of sharing my beautiful journey,” Bhaker wrote in a tweet.

Manu Bhaker made India proud at Paris Olympics

Bhaker clinched India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 after winning bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol final. Her bronze medal also marked an end to India’s medal drought in shooting at the Olympics as she bagged the country’s first medal in shooting at the showpiece event since 2012.

The 22-year-old didn’t stop there as she combined with Sarabjot Singh to win another bronze medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event to bag her second medal in Paris. The bronze medal in the mixed team event saw Bhaker become the first Indian athlete post-independence to win two medals at the same edition of the Games.

Bhaker was the only athlete to return home with two medals as the Indian contingent ended their campaign with a total six medals, failing to clinch even a solitary gold medal.

India’s double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker came up with a befitting response to the trolls over their criticism of her for wearing her medals to every promotional event she went to.  Other Sports Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
