Mayank Yadav to make India debut in 1st T20I vs Bangladesh? Here’s what SKY said

New Delhi: The T20I setup of the Indian cricket team is all in readiness to take on Bangladesh in a three-match affair that starts with the first T20I in Gwalior on Sunday. All eyes are glued on pace sensation Mayank Yadav who was one of the two notable picks by the selection panel other than Nitish Kumar Reddy. Mayank, known for producing ferocious spells in the IPL earlier this year, is expected to make his debut for Team India in the series opener.

Although dealing with injuries soon after claiming the spotlight, Mayank is yet to hit the ground. He was fast-tracked into the national team where he has been taking part in the practice sessions, regularly monitored by the bowling coach Morne Morkel and the team’s medical staff. On the eve of the first game in Gwalior, skipper Suryakumar Yadav talked to the media, insisting that Mayank has an “X-factor.”

Suryakumar is yet to face him in the nets but he was of the same opinion as everyone else – heaping praise on the youngster after being impressed by his sensational IPL debut this year. “The series is a good chance for the youngsters. Mayank has that X-factor and others as well. I have not played in my nets thus far. But have seen his potential and the impact he can make,” Surya said.

Will Mayank make his debut?

Suryakumar was asked the most obvious question of all which even he would have expected – “Will Mayank be making his international debut on Sunday?” To the question, the skipper replied, “We were discussing the team just now. If you asked me 10 minutes later I would have told you whether he would play or not. But surely he has that extra pace. Need to manage him properly.”

Surya also added that a lot of cricket has been going on both the domestic and international circuits and that Mayank is a good addition to the Indian team. The 22-year-old pace gun has not played since suffering a side strain in the IPL back in April. Surya updated about him saying that he is doing his fitness drills as well.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old captain is looking a bit beyond the notion of only a bowler bowling in the series. It is understood that the swashbuckling batter himself bowled in the previous series against Sri Lanka and he is all in for the Indian batters rolling their arm over for an over or two as per the situation. The likes of Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, and the skipper himself can all come in handy.

“It can only be good if we can get a couple of overs from the batters. In this squad, most of them can bowl. We saw that in Sri Lanka as well. If you have the skill why not,” Surya perceived.

Mayank Yadav was one of the two notable picks by the selection panel in India squad for Bangladesh T20Is. All eyes are on the pace sensation if he will be making his international debut in the series opener scheduled in Gwalior.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
