Islamabad: Zenith Irfan has become the first woman in Pakistan to ride solo across the country. Having a keen passion for motorcycling, a skill she learned at the age of 12, Zenith is popularly known as “Motorcycle Girl”.
Wanted To Fulfill Father’s Dream
After his father’s death, Zenith wanted to honour his wish which was to have one complete motorcycle trip around the world. She navigated through storms and sunshine, with tears blending with the rain and laughter carried away by the wind.
Later she came under spotlight and started gaining celebrity status. A biographical film was made on her life, titled ‘Motorcycle Girl’.
“In 2013, when my brother bought his first motorcycle, he gave me riding lessons. It was then that I decided to embark on a motorcycle adventure after gaining adequate training,” Irfan told a Pakistan daily.
Mother Became Driving Force In Her Journey
“We are a small family of three. And it was actually my mother’s idea that I should go on a motorcycle journey in order to leave a legacy for my late father,” Irfan said.
Embracing her father’s dream, Irfan was browsing through family photos when she stumbled upon a picture of him in an aviation uniform.
“Since he was in the army, he didn’t have much time to pursue his passions and the dream he longed to achieve,” she reflected.
Roadblocks In Her Journey
“Although my family is from Pakistan, we moved to the United Arab Emirates in the 1960s. So I was actually born in Sharjah, near Dubai. But when I was 12, we came to Lahore. When we first moved, it was a culture shock,” she was quoted as saying by a magazine AFAR.
