New Delhi: Australian pacer Mitchell Starc found himself in an uncomfortable situation at the Delhi airport recently, as a video of him getting visibly irritated by a vlogger has surfaced online. The incident, which occurred at the departure terminal, shows Starc telling a fan to “go away” after the individual repeatedly tried to engage him in conversation.

The clip comes at a time when Starc’s future in the ongoing IPL 2025 season remains uncertain. The Indian Premier League was temporarily suspended due to escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, forcing many foreign players to return home. Starc, who was a key player for Delhi Capitals this season, was among those overseas players who exited the country after the Dharamshala match was suspended.

The left-arm bowler is seen gesturing and shooing the fan away, repeatedly saying “Go away”. This moment of frustration from Starc quickly gained attention online, further fueling speculation about whether or not he would return to play the remainder of the season should the league resume soon.

DC hit by player exodus

Starc’s departure is not the only blow to the Delhi Capitals. The franchise has already confirmed that Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk will not return for the rest of the campaign. Fraser-McGurk struggled in his initial outings, scoring only 55 runs in his first six matches, which led to his exclusion from the playing XI.

To fill the gap, Delhi Capitals have signed Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman as Fraser-McGurk’s replacement. However, the left-arm seamer’s availability is also under question, as he is currently in Dubai for Bangladesh’s T20I series against the UAE, scheduled on May 17 and 19.

If Mustafizur plays both T20I’s, he’s expected to land in India only on May 20, potentially missing Delhi’s crucial match against Gujarat Titans. Reports suggest that the Delhi Capitals are in talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board to secure an early release for the pacer. Such negotiations are common in franchise cricket, especially since boards receive a percentage of their players’ IPL contracts.

As the league awaits further updates on resumption, Delhi Capitals are dealing with a growing list of player absentees while also hoping Starc’s situation doesn’t become a prolonged headache.
