New Delhi: The Liverpool star striker Mohamed Salah is among the very best players in Europe this season, but as the contract deadlock goes on, his time at Anfield is ticking down. Salah has entered the final six months of his contract with the Reds, and he wants to leave on a high note by winning a second Premier League title.
The 32-year-old has already said this season would be his “last year” while speaking in an interview with Sky Sports. Salah said there has been no progress, and we are even far from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see. He joined Liverpool from Roma back in 2017 and has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season.
Salah didn’t let the contract situation distract him, focusing instead on the present. He explained his mindset: “The thing in my head is that if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future?” He continually reminds himself how he wants this period to be remembered, aiming for an unbelievable season regardless of the contract’s status.
As he put it, when he feels distracted, he simply reminds himself, “I want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season. That’s what I want to do.”

Negotiations so far
For months, talks regarding a new contract for the Egyptian star have been ongoing without any progress. Salah has been vocal about his future with the club in media interviews over the recent months.
He first spoke about the same following a 3-0 win against Manchester United in September, stating that he treated the game as if it was his “last time” at Old Trafford before saying something similar after winning against Manchester City last month.
In November, after beating Southampton, he said he was disappointed by a lack of contract offer so far. He reiterated the same after a win over West Ham on Monday, saying that any agreement was “far away”.
Despite the contract dilemma, the Egyptian King has been able to focus on his football. So far, Salah is the top sorcerer in the Premier League season, scoring 17 goals, three ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. The former Chelsea star has also provided 13 assists this season and helped the Reds top the Premier League and Champions League tables.

Apart from Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also nearing the end of their contracts with the Reds. These players have played a prime role under former manager Jurgen Klopp to help Liverpool get back to the top of English and European football as they helped the club win the Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and League Cup.
Arnold has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, though Liverpool manager Arne Slot has denied the same, saying he is “fully committed” to the Reds. Salah also talked about his teammates and said, “It’s necessary for us to win another trophy before we all go.”
So far, Liverpool have had a dream run this season and will next be seen playing against struggling Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
Is Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool journey coming to a close?
