New Delhi: Team India’s premium fast bowler Mohammed Shami was seen bowling at full tilt ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. As per the RevSportz report, it is learned that the pace bowler has resumed bowling in the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Shami was seen bowling in the nets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru after the Day 2 play of the first Test match between India and New Zealand. The report stated that he started the session with warm-ups and then proceeded to bowl for a few minutes.
As per the report, the pacer started bowling with a shot run-up and after a few minutes he started extending it. Shami was seen bowling with a strap on his left knee, which had suffered from swelling a few days ago. He increased his speed slowly and was bowling at a good pace. After a drinks break, he measured his full run-up with a tape and increased his intensity.
Troy Cooley, the fast bowling coach at the NCA and Nitin Patel, head of sports science and medicine were closely observing Shami’s movements. He then bowled at full tilt and looked good during the session.

How much more time does Shami need to recover from injury?
According to NCA sources who spoke to RevSportz said that Shami will need approximately six weeks to fully recover from his knee injury, and the pace bowler has not yet completely been ruled out from the Australia series. He has not played a single game after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Shami suffered an ankle injury during the tournament and underwent surgery for the same after the World Cup.
He experienced a swelling in his knee ahead of the New Zealand series with skipper Rohit Sharma also confirming the same in the press conference. Rohit also said that there is no clarity if the pacer will be fit for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
