New Delhi: Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj was at his lethal best with the ball in the morning session on Day 2 of the ongoing 5th Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney on Saturday, January 04. Siraj rattled Australia by dismissing opener Sam Konstas and the dangerous Travis Head in a single over in their first innings to get India off to a flying start on Day 2.
Siraj was on top of his game right from the onset on Day 2 as he troubled the Australian batters with his off-stump line. He soon earned a reward for his efforts after finding an edge of Konstas’ bat in the 12th over of the hosts’ innings. Konstas edged one to Jaiswal, who made no mistakes with the catch at gully to hand Siraj his first wicket in the match.
Siraj struck once again in the same over to get rid of Head cheaply on just 2. Siraj bowled a shortish delivery outside off to the left-hander, who git a thick edge with the ball flying straight to KL Rahul at second slip. Head’s dismissal rocked Australia as the hosts were reduced to 39/4 in just 12 overs in the pursuit of India’s first-innings total of 185 runs.

Australia reduced to 101/5 at Lunch on Day 2
Thanks to a brilliant show from the Indian bowlers in the morning session on Day 2, Australia were reduced to 101/5 at Lunch. Bumrah and Siraj once again combined to run riot as the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals to find themselves in a spot of bother. Bumrah dismissed Marnus Labuschagne cheaply on 2 to draw the first blood for India on Day 2 before Siraj got into the act.
Siraj dismissed Konstas and Head in quick succession in the same over to leave Australia reeling on 39/4. Steve Smith then combined with all-rounder Beau Webster to help Australia recover with a 57-run stand for the fifth wicket. The partnership was broken by Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna at the stroke of lunch.
Krishna got rid of a settled Smith on 33 to ensure half the Australian team was back into the hut at lunch on Day 2.
