Money rule changes from July 2024: Credit cards, e-wallets and ITR

New Delhi: With July 2024 just few days away, there are key financial rule changes and deadlines that you should take care of before they expire. From e-wallets to credit cards, and Income Tax Return Filing, know about key money rule changes from July 2024.

Paytm wallets

One97 Communications unit Paytm Payments Bank wallets are expected to turn inactive from July 20, 2024, according to an official statement. This expiry applies to zero balance wallets and those which did not eitness any transactions for a year or more.

Income Tax return filing

The last date for filing Income Tax Returns is July 31, 2024. Filing taxes before this deadline will ensure that you are not charged any late payment fee. A maximum penalty of Rs 5,000 is levied on ITRs filed after July 31, 2024, and before December 31, 2024. This penalty rises to Rs 10,000 after December 31, 2024. An interest of 1 per cent per month is levied for filing late ITRs.

Credit Card Rule changes

SBI credit card

SBI will discontinue reward points for government payment-related transactions starting from July 1, 2024.

ICICI Bank credit card

ICICI Bank has mad multiple amendments to credit cards. The credit card issuer has raised the fee for the replacement of cards to Rs 200 from Rs 100 effective July 1, 2024. The fee change will not be applicable on the Emerald Private Metal Credit.

Citibank credit card

Axis Bank, which is the licensed user of Citibank credit cards and brand name in India, has announced that it will migrate Citibank customers to its own brand. This will apply to credit cards as well as savings bank accounts. The migration will be completed by July 15, 2024, according to the notification.

PNB Rupay Platinum debit card

PNB has revised the rules for lounge access offered with variants of the Rupay Platinum Debit Card.
The revised rules will come into effect from July 1, 2024.
PNB will offer 1 domestic airport lounge access/railway lounge access per quarter. It will offer 2 international airport lounge access on an annual basis, the ET reported.
