MS Dhoni’s fitness peaks, unleashes blistering smash on badminton court – WATCH

New Delhi: Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a testament of the old saying ‘age is just a number’. The 43-year-old is the oldest cricketer active in the competitive cricket played across India. Although the Indian stalwart’s participation is only limited to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the fitness standards cannot be compromised given the tournament demands a meticulous training to avoid injuries.

Dhoni is still quicker between the wickets and sharper behind the stumps. And now one can find him peppering the cross smashes on the badminton court. In a recent video which has been viral on social media platforms, the retired Indian wicketkeeper-batter is seen playing badminton in a doubles format. One of the moment of the 20-second clip shows Dhoni unleash a tough smash from his racket.

There is no confirmation where Dhoni was playing badminton with his playing partners, reports suggest it was somewhere in his hometown Ranchi. The badminton clip comes out just few days after the World Cup-winning captain was spotted with friends enjoying a dinner at a local dhaba in the Jharkhad capital city.

MS Dhoni to play in IPL 2024?

There is no official confirmation about MS Dhoni’s participation for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 season. It is believed that the player and the team management will take a call only after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) once sets the IPL 2025 auction retention policy.

There were reports which suggested that the Indian cricket board is set to bring back the old rule of players retired from international cricket for at least five years can be considered as an ‘uncapped player’ in the auction. The reports indicated that CSK management requested BCCI to bring back this rule, however, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan denied of any such requests while speaking to Times of India.
