New Delhi: Former India cricketer turned police officer Joginder Sharma recently reunited with the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni as they shared a nostalgic moment that brought back the memories of India’s triumph at the 2007 T20 World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa. The moment is etched in every Indian cricket fan’s memory as one of the most iconic events in Indian cricket history as India lifted the inaugural and first-ever T20 World Cup.

Joginder, highly revered as an unsung hero of India’s 2007 triumph and for his exploits in the final clash against Pakistan, posted a heartwarming video with Dhoni on his Instagram account. The video was a slideshow of several pictures where Joginder could be seen having some quality time with the former India skipper. The two were reunited after a gap of 12 years, as mentioned by the now turned Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

The picture had the background music of the Bollywood number “Aye yaar sun yaari teri mujhe zindagi se bhi pyaari hai,” which reflected how deeply Joginder respects Dhoni and their friendship that they have maintained over the years. The reunion was enough for the fans to make their day as they reposted the picture and flooded Joginder’s comment section with heartfelt responses.

“It was nice to meet @mahi7781 after a very long time. The fun of meeting you after almost 12 years was different today,” Joginder wrote as the caption.

Final over drama

The match is highly known for becoming an edge-of-the-seat thriller in the final over when Pakistan required 13 runs to win with just one wicket in hand. India were worried about the all-set Misbah-ul-Haq and Dhoni at such a time, handed the over to Joginder. The decision left everyone surprised considering the high pressure and the stakes that were involved.

Joginder began the over with a wide and followed it with a dot ball. However, he was hit for a six in the next delivery and the equation stood at 6 needed off 4 balls. Misbah attempted a scoop in the next ball but the ball landed quite safely in the hands of Sreesanth, who took a match-winning catch under pressure. Joginder rose to the occasion in fashion as India clinched the T20 World Cup 2007 final by five runs.

MS Dhoni and Joginder Sharma are two names that the Indian cricket fans very fondly remember. The duo took centerstage in the 2007 T20 World Cup final where India beat Pakistan in a thrilling encounter.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
