Experience Kafka’s masterwork like never before with a Virtual Reality installation, offering an immersive journey into the surreal world of Gregor Samsa’s transformation. This unique perspective promises to bring the novella’s themes and narrative to life, providing a fresh and engaging way to appreciate one of literature’s most celebrated works.
VRWANDLUNG is a creative blend of VR (Virtual Reality) and ‘Verwandlung,’ which is the German title of Franz Kafka’s famous novella, The Metamorphosis.
The term ‘Verwandlung’ translates to ‘transformation’ or ‘metamorphosis’ in English, referring to the central theme of the novella where the protagonist, Gregor Samsa, transforms into a giant insect.
The use of ‘VR’ in VRWANDLUNG highlights the virtual reality experience designed to immerse readers and viewers in the world of Kafka’s work, providing a modern, interactive way to explore this literary classic.
Mumbai Literature Fest 2024 Schedule
The inaugural session of Mumbai Literature Fest will be held on 15th November 2024 from 3 pm to 4:20 pm at the Tata Theatre with the event, ‘For the Love of the Word’, a tribute to the power of literature.
This event will feature the Anil Dharker Session followed by an engaging conversation titled Poetry is Life.
Renowned poet Gulzar will be in conversation with Pavan K Varma, offering insights into the world of poetry and its profound impact on life.

Fifteen years ago, a group of passionate Mumbai personalities, all lovers of literature, gathered and pondered why their beloved city, with its vast readership, didn’t have a book festival. Inspired by the idea, Anil Dharker took the initiative to turn this vision into reality. Thus, Literature Live! The Mumbai Litfest was born, and it has since become an internationally renowned annual event, putting Mumbai firmly on the global literary festival map.
