Mutual fund inflows down over Rs 80 lakh crore in August; SIPs at record high: AMFI

Mumbai: Mutual fund inflows declined by a a massive Rs 80 lakh crore to RS 1.08 lakh crore in August, from Rs 1.89 lakh crore in July, according to data shared by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). To be sure, equity MF inflows rose Rs 38.329 crore in August from Rs 37,113 crore in July. Total equity assets under management rose to RS 30.1 lakh crore compared to Rs 28.5 lakh crore in July.

However, the major dip in MF inflows was on account of a decline in debt MF inflows, according to AMFI data. Moreover, SIP inflows also touched a record high of Rs 23,547 crore, compared to Rs 23,332 crore in July. Mutual fund SIP inflows remained above the Rs 23,000 crore mark for the second straight month in August, according to AMFI data. Debt mutual fund inflows more than halved to Rs 45,169 crore in August from Rs 1.19 lakh crore in July, according to AMFI data.

Which funds witnessed highest inflows?

Large-cap fund inflows expanded to Rs 2,636.9 crore in August from Rs 670 crore in July. ETF fund inflows nearly doubled to Rs 10,093.6 crore in August from Rs 5,787.3 crore. Mutual fund inflows in August remained constant in all categories with flexi-cap MFs receiving the second highest inflows among equity MFs at Rs 3,513 crore in August. ELSS funds witnessed outflows worth Rs 205 crore in August.

Hybrid fund inflows were also down to Rs 10,0005 crore in August from Rs 17,436 crore in July. The 18 new fund offers which opened in August 2024, raised funds worth Rs 13,815 crore led by Rs 10,202 crore picked by thematic funds, according to AMFI data.

Large-cap fund inflows expanded to Rs 2,636.9 crore in August from Rs 670 crore in July. ETF fund inflows nearly doubled to Rs 10,093.6 crore in August from Rs 5,787.3 crore. Smallcap fund inflows stood at Rs 3,209 crore. At the same time, liquid fund inflows rose to Rs 13,594.87 crore in August from outflows worth Rs 70,060.9 crore in July.
