My only favourite person in cricket: Jadeja’s birthday post for ‘big brother’ Dhoni wins hearts

New Delhi: Wishes have been flowing in from all corners as the legendary MS Dhoni celebrates his 43rd birthday on Sunday, July 07. In a video that surfaced on social media, Dhoni was seen cutting a cake with his wife Sakshi to celebrate his birthday in Mumbai. Several former and current cricketers have taken to social media to wish the ex-India captain on his special day.

Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate Ravindra Jadeja also took to Instagram to share a heartfelt wish for his ‘big brother’. Jadeja posted the iconic picture from the IPL 2023 final where Dhoni was seen lifting him in joy after CSK won their fifth title. The all-rounder scored the winning runs in the final as CSK defeated Gujarat Titans to lift the trophy.

Sharing the special picture on Instagram, Jadeja wrote a lovely message for his former captain and called him his favourite person in cricket. “Happy birthday to my only favourite person in cricket. Mahi bhai Your presence is the greatest gift. Lots of love #bigbrother,” Jadeja wrote.

Jadeja and Dhoni’s strong bond

Jadeja’s heartwarming post for Dhoni depicts the strong bond between the duo. Ahead of IPL 2023, there were rumours that all was not well between the two CSK superstars with some reports claiming that Jadeja wanted to leave the franchise. However, there was no truth in the rumours of a rift between the duo as Dhoni convinced Jadeja to continue with CSK.

Jadeja repaid the faith by playing a match-winning cameo for the team in the final to help them lift the title. Jadeja and Dhoni’s bond has only grown stronger after CSK’s IPL 2023 title triumph and the all-rounder has showcased his love for his former captain on several occasions.

Jadeja played under Dhoni for several years at CSK and also made his India debut under the legendary wicket-keeper batter. Jadeja was part of the Indian team that won the Champions Trophy under Dhoni’s captaincy in 2013. The all-rounder recently won his second major ICC trophy after India defeated South Africa in the final to win the T20 World Cup 2024 title.
