Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus invites Team India for warm-up matches in Windhoek

New Delhi: India is set to tour South Africa for a four-match T20I series in November 2024. The four T20I will be hosted in Centurion, Gqeberha and Johannesburg and the series will start on November 8 and conclude on November 15.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the schedule on their X account, The post caption, “CSA and the Board Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are delighted to confirm the scheduling of yet another thrilling KFC T20 International (T20I) series, which will see India traveling to South Africa in November 2024.”

After the announcement went public, Namibian Captain Gerhard Erasmus requested BCCI to play warm-up matches in Windhoek, Namibia before the four-match T20I series against South Africa.

Cricket is growing in Namibia and for more opportunities in Namibian cricket, their skipper tagged BCCI in the post and wrote “Hey @BCCI, warm-up in Windhoek?

Fans appreciated the Namibian skipper’s comment as they thought it would be a great idea for a small country to host some matches for World Giants like India. Namibia will also get some recognition in the world cricket.

Namibia participated in the T20 World Cup 2024 and emerged victorious in one group match but were subsequently eliminated from the group stage. The African nation also played in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition where they shocked the world by beating Asian Lions Sri Lanka in the Super 12s.

Weise made his debut for Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2021 and played a crucial role for his team. The 39-year-old all-rounder played in many T20 leagues around the globe and shared his experience with an in-experience young Namibian team.
