Naveen-ul-Haq calls out lack of support with a cheeky jibe at fans after AFG’s heroic win over AUS

New Delhi: Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq is known for his epic social media digs over players and teams across the globe and is well known for his spirit and liveliness. He has attracted attention yet again and seems for all the right reasons after Afghanistan thumped Australia by 21 runs to bag their first international victory against the opponents at the T20 World Cup 2024 in a Super 8 clash.

Naveen has taken a sly dig at the fans while calling out the lack of support for the Afghanistan side and drawing parallels for it with the congratulatory messages and wishes they get poured in for their heroics. The same fans are loving his take on the fact and have showered praise on the pacer for his performance in the ongoing T20 showpiece event.

It is quite evident that when it comes to supporting the team, very few come forward to express and talk about them but when the team stuns the globe with their exceptional talent, the same people are at the top congratulating the team and heaping praise on them. Naveen called out this lack of support with a meme that was rather an introspective take, sharing it on his Instagram handle after Afghanistan pummeled Australia to keep their semis hopes alive.

The right arm quick wanted to convey how Afghanistan rose from the ashes without any proper support, facing all the battles, and defying all the odds through continuous struggles, but when it comes to becoming a part of their success, there’s no dearth of it. The meme was a split image of a lone person sitting in an empty stand of the stadium with “Support” written over it and another picture of a packed stadium with “Congratulations” on it. Naveem captioned the post with a silent emoji.

His recent Instagram post could also be a sly dig at the Australian team for cancelling their three-match ODI series against Afghanistan that was scheduled in the UAE in 2023. Australia decided to forfeit the series after the Taliban declared limits on women’s education and work in the country.
Ahead of Afghanistan’s ODI World Cup 2023 match against Australia, the 24-year-old took a dig at Australia on his Instagram story, mentioning their refusal to play the bilateral series.
