New Delhi: India defeated England by two wickets in a thriller contest at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on January 25, Saturday. It was a scintillating performance from Tilak Verma as held one end and took his team over the line.
Men in Blue again won the toss and invited the English side to bat first. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav picked up four spinners in the playing XI, while the English skipper Jos Buttler picked up four seamers in the match.
Arshdeep Singh again trapped English opener Phil Salt in the first over. Buttler again came with guns blazing and scored 45 runs in 30 balls. English batters were in a hurry and threw their wickets to Indian spinners in a quick manner. On a belter pitch, they posted an under-par score of 165 runs in 20 overs.
In response, Indian batters were also looking in a hurry and quickly throwing their wickets. Tilak held one end and made a handy partnership of 48 runs with Washington Sundar.
Sundar departed in the crunch moment of the match and scored 26 runs in 19 balls. Indian team needed six runs in the last over with just two wickets remaining. Tilak was looking cool and finished the match in style and scoring an unbeaten 72 runs in 55 balls.
