New Delhi: Neymar silenced jeering fans in style as he scored directly from a corner to help Santos secure a 3-0 win over Internacional Limeira in the Paulista Championship. The Brazilian forward, who returned to his boyhood club last month, showcased his brilliance by netting the first “olimpico” of his career in the 27th minute. The ball curled past defenders, hit the far post, and nestled in the net, leaving the home crowd stunned.

The 33-year-old wasn’t done yet. He set up both goals for Tiquinho Soares, who scored twice in the first half to put Santos in complete control. But it was Neymar’s response to the crowd’s taunts that stole the headlines.

Neymar answers the crowd with class

Neymar had already received a hostile reception early in the match. In the ninth minute, as he stepped up to take a corner, Internacional Limeira fans tried to unsettle him with loud jeers. Instead of reacting negatively, the former Barcelona and PSG star encouraged them to continue, even gesturing for them to sing louder. Seconds later, he delivered a pinpoint assist for Soares to open the scoring.

His moment of magic arrived in the 27th minute when he bent a right-footed corner straight into the goal, completing a stunning olimpico. After the match, Neymar admitted he was fired up by the fans’ taunts.

“They teased me, and I said, now I’m the one who’s going to score,” he told TNT Sports.

Despite a turbulent period in his career, Neymar seems to be rediscovering his passion for football at Santos. He later took to social media, writing, “My greatest joy is playing football.”

Santos will now face Bragantino in the Paulista Championship quarterfinals next weekend, with Neymar leading the charge.
