New Delhi: The Women in Blue will start their Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla on July 19. Harmanpreet and Co. are the defending champions of the marquee event and have a head-to-head record of 11-3 against Pakistan.
Team India played a 1-1 draw in the T20I series against South Africa in Chennai. The Women in Blue defeated Sri Lanka in the last edition and lifted their 7th trophy.
Indian skipper Harmanpreet said that her team always enjoy playing against Pakistan but we always want to play good cricket against every opponent.
“We always enjoy playing against Pakistan but each and every team is important. Whenever we go and play, we always want to play good cricket, and we will follow the same method,” Harmanpreet said in the pre-match press conference.

A journalist questioned her about the lack of coverage for women’s cricket in the country to which she replied “Well, that is none of my business. You guys have to come and cover us”.
The Indian captain also said that the tournament is important for her team and they give equal respect to every tournament. She also said that the team’s focus will remain the same.
‘This tournament is very important for all of us because we give equal respect to this tournament and want to improve at the Asian as well as at the world level. So our focus will remain the same as we prepare for the T20 World Cup or any other World Cup. Each and every game is important for us and we will try to give our best,” Harmanpreet said. The Women in Blue are placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Nepal and the UAE while hosts Sri Lanka are placed in Group B with Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand.
