New Delhi: The Men in Blue will take on Australia in the five-match Test series, starting on November 22. The series will be crucial for both teams to book a spot in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
The former Australian all-rounder talked about two important players who can provide a tough challenge to the Australian team in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The series will start in November 2024 and will be played till January 2025.
India’s dominance against Australia
Team India have played dominant cricket in the last two series against Australia. The Men in Blue won two consecutive Test series down under and would be keen to complete the hat-trick of wins against the Aussies.
India have a lot of match winners in the Test squad and Rishabh Pant is one of them. He played a crucial role for the Men in Blue in the last two series, smashing a century in the 2018-19 tour and then playing two sensational innings in Sydney and Gabba in 2020-21.
Shane Watson believes Rishabh Pant is going to have a big series
Shane Watson at the launch of the International Masters League said that Pant has got great memories from the last Australia tour and the knock he played at the Gabba was very special. He further added that Pant is going to have big Test series against Australia.
“One is Rishabh Pant. He’s got great memories of the last tour he had from a batting perspective in Australia. The innings that he played at the Gabba were something very special” Watson said at the launch event of International Masters League.
“Knowing that he’s come through his challenges in the last couple of years to be able to come back as an even better player than what he left off, I think he’s going to have a big series” he added.
Pant made a sensational return to Test cricket after his car accident and smashed a century in the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
‘Jasprit Bumrah going to be very effective in Australia as well’: Shane Watson
Shane Watson also said that Bumrah is going to be very effective in Australian conditions because of his ability to take wickets. He is currently the no.1 ranked Test bowler.
“Also, Bumrah is someone who in Australian conditions, in all conditions he’s so good. His ability to be able to just take wickets and get batters out, he’s going to be very effective in Australia as well. So those two guys, if they have big series, they can really provide Australia with some big challenges” Shane Watson added.
