WATCH: Young Afghan spinner hits bulls eye, sends back Zakir Hasan with a direct hit

New Delhi: In the decider third ODI between Afghanistan and Bangladesh, Sharjah saw some exemplary field performances in the first half of the game on Monday. 20-year-old Afghan spinner Nangeyalia Kharote upped his fieldwork, making a direct throw towards the non-striker’s end to dismiss Bangladesh batter Zakir Hasan just after the batting powerplay was concluded.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh were off to a decent start but in the 11th over, Zakir, with all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz got involved in a huge mix-up. It was the over of Azmatullah Omarzai who bowled the second delivery as a length ball and it seamed a bit away. Mehidy tapped it towards the point with a squared-up stance and called Zakir for a single, only to send him back.

Zakir was almost halfway down the pitch before he had to turn back. Kharote moved across from the backward point and the timber as bulls-eye at the bowler’s end. Zakir had to walk back on 4(7).

Mahmudullah misses century by a whisker

Bangladesh veteran Mahmudullah missed his fifth ODI ton by a narrow margin of two runs as he was run out on the final delivery of the innings. He carried the innings quite well for his side, playing run-a-ball 98 and stitching a crucial 145-run stand with Mehidy for the fifth wicket. After the departure of Mehidy on 66(119), Mahmudullah continued to bat, making sure that he got his team to a reputable total.

The Bangla fans were eager to see Mahmudullah hitting a ton and make them relive all the memories he has created for them over the years but the Afghan bowlers and fielders were quite sharp and restricted Mahmudullah, and Bangladesh at 244/8 in their stipulated 50 overs.

Bangladesh batters Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Zakir Hasan were involved in a huge mix-up during the 3rd ODI against Afghanistan in Sharjah. Zakir had to pay the price with his wicket as he was sent off with a lethal direct-throw.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
